F-102: Land Use - Defining Your Township's Future (4-part series; valid for 6 credits)

Learn the ins and outs of building a great planning & zoning team and discuss how your actions impact your community. This four-part series covers a variety of Land Use issues, from learning land use Foundations, to Defining Your Township’s Master Plan, a segment on Zoning Strategies and finally, Emerging Issues. Together they delve into the elements of and ideas behind master planning along with a wide range of emerging trends and strategies in planning and zoning. 

This course is divided into four webcasts segments. To receive TGA credit, candidates must view all webcasts segments, complete and pass the post-webcast quiz, and complete and return a Practical Application Commitment (PAC) form (found here) to MTA.

Steve Langworth received a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan and spent 6 years as a planning director and zoning administrator for the city of Kentwood, Michigan (among others), and over 20 years as a consulting planner, most recently with LSL Planning in Grand Rapids. Prior to retiring, Steve held the position of Director of Land Use & Long Range Planning for the city of Dublin, Ohio.

Steve has authored numerous Master Plans, Zoning Ordinances, and special studies for communities of all sizes and characteristics. He is a frequent MTA presenter and the principal author of MTA’s Township Guide to Planning and Zoning and Township Planning & Zoning Decision-making Handbook. He is also the author of MTA's latest new book, Breaking the Zoning Code.
